Quebec Net Positive unveils today the second edition of the Businesses Transition Barometer, the most comprehensive survey on climate action by Quebec businesses, with the addition of a new Transition Index. To carry out this important study, Quebec Net Positive commissioned the research firm Léger, which surveyed 596 Quebec business leaders between August 18 and September 13, 2023.

Axel Gizard and Jeanne Martel-Thibault, interns at Québec Net Positif for the summer of 2023 and respectively master's students in sustainable development at HEC Montréal and in circular economy at Polytechnique Montréal, offer us a short editorial on their vision of an ideal SME by 2030.

We are delighted to present our 2022-2023 Activity Report. With the support of the members of our Board of Directors and the backing of our partners and collaborators - to whom we extend our warmest thanks - we are actively developing new tools that are essential if we are to move collectively towards an enlightened economic transition.

This new study was carried out using the same questionnaire as the initial Barometers, making it possible to compare the results for the aerospace sector with those for all Quebec companies, as well as those for manufacturing companies.

Québec Net Positive launches the inaugural edition of the Businesses Transition Barometer. Climate emergency: employees are the main source of pressure for Quebec SMEs to act

With the Barometer, it is the first time that we have access to representative and exhaustive data on the level of commitment of Quebec businesses towards climate action and the transition to a low-carbon economy.

This year was marked by the meeting of many inspiring leaders and by the support of some thirty corporate, public and community partners and collaborators who joined in various initiatives throughout the year. It is with enthusiasm and a sense of accomplishment that we share this 2021-2022 activity report today.

We are a partner of the McGill Sustainability Systems Initiative leading PIVOT, an action research project that uses social media to bring small business owners together to share their climate action goals, struggles and achievements. The National Film Board of Canada provided guidance on communication strategies and digital media.

As the transition to a low-carbon economy accelerates, Quebec SMEs are struggling to actively prepare for it. This is one of the main findings of the "Bridging the Gap" report by Québec Net Positif, following consultations carried out in collaboration with Green Economy Canada. 

Published as a complement to the "Bridging the Gap" report, the update of the mapping of the low-carbon economy in Quebec highlights key sectors that are positioned to take advantage of the acceleration of the transition to a low-carbon economy.
